Burley Winter Pottery began making utilitarian ceramics in 1872 in Crooksville, Ohio. It was not until the early 1920's that the company began selling their art line known as "Blended Art". These vases were glazed in two colors: a base color and an over-color. The known glaze colors were cream, rose, blue, green, purple, and orange. The glazes are universally matte and the texture of the vases is rough and raised where the over-glaze is applied. The vases were thick and heavy, also implying some archaic design. This line ended in the 1930's as the focus of the company changed to industrial ceramics.
