Antique FRENCH Tiebacks Pair of 19th century curtain tiebacks - beige Braided passementerie, home fashion decor, upholstery
A stunning pair of late 19th century French curtain tiebacks, made of intricately woven and knotted passementerie cording fabric.
The tiebacks were part of an ensemble of voile curtains in a fine bourgeois home.
Zoom in to have a better look, as the photos can hardly convey the beauty of the knotting and "plaited " woven cording, so unusual - I have never seen others like them !
Total length of each piece including doubled loop ropes on each end : 32.5" ;
Length of knotted plaited section : 22 "
Width goes from 2 to 3" , ends to centre, following the shape
The tiebacks could be used for a number of projects - for example to make a lovely contrast on a pair of ecru linen, floral or other patterned curtains - I have seen this done and it makes a great statement. Or as a lampshade embellishment, on a tote-bag, an original belt, neck-piece fashion or collarpiece...Lots of creative scope...
A Rare and Elegant Pair !
