Original World War Two American Bullion Made Army Air fashion Force Patch

A beautiful and original US Army, WW2 era, shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI).  The patch would have been worn on the shirts and jackets of US GIs who served in this unit.  Original period item.

This particular AAF patch is bullion thread on dark blue felt, possibly theatre made, but either way it would be private purchase rather than an issued item. The pattern fashion of stitching on the rear shows this to be a hand sewn example. Very small area of missing thread at the 11 o'clock position of the outer circle. Evidence of having been removed from an album, but either way does not detract from the item.
