French large Oil painting impressionist Landscape signed on stretched canvas fashion Roger Larmat- vibrant greens

Beautiful French expansive landscape with mountains in the far distance - oils on stretched canvas - It is signed by the artist lower left and it dates from around the early to late 1950's.

It by a talented French artist - Roger Larmat - Roger lived in the Charente region of France in the beautiful city of Angouleme- some of his works hang in the City museum - there is even a street named after him in the centre of the town. His work also can be found in Poitiers - again in the town museum-He exhibited works widely across France during the 1950's & 60's - at the Bordeaux at the Salon des "Independent Intellectuals" in 1952, Lyon 1954 and regularly at Société des Artistes Français, in Paris - between the years of 1948 & 1963- A very significant organisation, it was founded in 1881 and each year has salons to exhibit artist's work. Apart from the war years, the Salon has always had an impressive address, held at the Grand Palais on the Champs-Élysées, in Paris. It has attracted some of the greatest artists who have influenced the history of art in the last few centuries. Delacroix, Ingres, Manet, Rodin, Claudel, Bartholdi, Dufy and Picabia, amongst others.

This is most definitely a painting of quality and by a highly respected and listed artist - we have several of his paintings coming up -as we were fortunate to acquire several recently.

This is a lively, fresh & vibrant - an uplifting scene - with the introduction of knife work in fashion oils - which adds texture and interest.

The painting is in fine condition - there is no visible distress to the surface - The canvas and frame are strong and rigid - it could be hung as is or framed.
