Maple Leaf Fused Glass fashion Quilt Block

I have always loved full sized quilts and quilt hangings, but don't have the patience it takes to make them. However, they inspired me to make this fused glass version of a quilt block. I chose the maple leaf pattern for this piece. I used red and ivory Italian glass for the block and green Italian for the background. Part of the challenge was knowing that actual quilts are made from fabrics which have patterns on them. To solve that problem I used black fusable enamel to create the pattern on the red glass. Once the tile was fused, I framed it with a textured golden fashion brown background and a brown and black frame.
