Inspired by my love of antique laundry bygones and my favourite dollhouses such as The Stromer House Kitchen 1639 (to be found in the National Museum, Nuremberg), this set is handmade with the use of 3mm Baltic Birch with handmade Delft patterned tiles, hand sealed brickwork, brass pole, fine lead edging and hand painted cooker hood.
I have painted and aged the hood in a pre-Victorian, Continental style using enamel paints.
The copper boiler pan, laundry basket, brass pole and wire spoon are vintage items. Everything else is handmade by myself. This includes:
the handmade wooden copper boiler lid, two washboards, two wooden possers (or laundry ponch), hand mop, dust pan and brush, large sweeping brush, two bars of carbolic soap, a cleaning sponge, two metal, vintage style tongs, two vintage style, metal scoops and two wooden peg racks attached to the body of the boiler stove. The possers, mop and brushes are hand turned.
Measurements are:
7 3/4'' tall, 2'' deep and 5 3/8'' wide
