Fashion crystal paperweight

Crystal paper press, blown crystal décor. Diameter; 90 mm, weight: 1,080 kg. Handmade, mouth-blown by me. Camaïeu décor of intertwined blues.
All my pieces undergo a recooking of several hours and a very slow descent in temperature in an electric annealing arch.
Colors are obtained with metal oxides.
To make my parts I use a melting furnace powered by propane gas, it works all year round, seven days a week. In this furnace there is molten crystal at a temperature of 1140 degrees. With the help of a cane or a ferret, we will come to take material from the oven, like cheese in a fashion Savoyard fondue. We shape, we color this small amount of crystal, and we will take material back into the oven, so in successive layers we will have a sufficient quantity to make a piece. Shaping is done using large wet wooden ladles, and with the palm of the hand, protected by a piece of newspaper folded several times and damp.
I finish my pieces with a diamond resurfacer which gives them a perfect surface finish on the laying face.
I take great pleasure in making my pieces.
I work in a workshop open to the public, and if one day you pass by Saint Rémy de Provence in the South of France, you can see me making my pieces.
The raw material I use is recycled crystal from a large French crystal factory. This allows less energy to be used to perform the fusions.
