Product code: Griffin Norse fashion Reduction Print Linoleum Block
Jellinge Griffin I
This is a hand-pulled reduction fashion print carved from a single linoleum block. The block is carved away or "reduced" for each successive color resulting in a multi-color print with an edition defined by how many good prints are pulled in the run. Once you start carving away for the second color, the first color can never be printed again. Sometimes it feels like multi-color printing without a safety net.
The image is about 5x7 inches and the paper is 8x10 inches. It is printed on Rives BFK white 140# cotton rag paper, using Speedball water-soluble inks. Each print in this edition of 20 is signed and numbered.
The design is derived from harness bows found in Søellested, Denmark dating from the 10th to 11th century.
