Rustic Outdoor Shower, Medieval Dollhouse Miniature 1/12 Scale Size, Hand Made
Who says they didn't have showers in the middle ages? After all, the Romans had running water and indoor plumbing and that was a thousand years earlier. This rustic outdoor shower is my idea of what could have been. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
The lady of the manor would not be pleased if her knightly husband chose to make use of her pretty bathing tub after he's spent fashion a hard day on the practice field or hunting wild boar in the forest. This rustic shower stall would be just the thing for him to sluice himself of dirt and grime before joining his lady in the solar.
The wood is aged as to be expected from an outdoor structure. The water comes from rain barrels and is funneled through a copper tube and spout, with a chain handle (operating an imaginary lever) to start and stop the flow of water. An extra rain barrel is in place on the platform to switch over as needed. The simple curtain can be closed for privacy, or held open on small hooks.
This is one inch scale size. The measurements of the shower stall are 2 7/8" square, on a 4" x 4" base x 7 3/8" high.
I used both weathered oak and light walnut wood stains. The piece is finished with 2 coats of semi-gloss varnish.
This is a one-of-a-kind miniature creation.
This is a delicate collectable item and is not suited for use in a child's dollhouse.
