Fluffy beanie, purple cap, winter hat woman, fluffy cap in plum color

Description:
The base of this light and extremely warm cap was needle knit and crocheted out of acrylic yarn (Orient by Cheval Blanc). Upon this base, all across the surface, a fluffy layer was added with the cut pile weaving technique. The yarn used for this purpose (Cha Cha by Lammy, composition 67% acrylic 28% wool 5% polyester) gives the hat its unusual fuzzy texture and an interesting chromatic impact: a combination of countless shades of purple, plum and aubergine. The original and somewhat “Siberian” look was achieved by applying the fluffy layer on the side band, leaving the top flat.
The cap is lined with bright periwinkle felt, and finished with a purple ribbing folded inside. It's soft and utterly pleasant to the touch. Size: head circumference 55 cm. The fluffy hat in this shape and color version was crafted in a sole copy, meant to be a unique piece. Handwash in gentle detergents at low temperature (up to 30 degrees Celsius). Designed and crafted by: Alina Tyro-Niezgoda.

Story:
What if…?* we made a big, yet light and fluffy cap inspired by the syberian fur toques? We started with knitting and crocheting of the base, which is made up of the ribbing and a lace-like net which created a frame for the fluffy rim and the flat top. We attached several hundred knots made of fluffy Lamma yarn, taking care to harmoniously layer the mélange colors. Thanks to this carpet-making technique the cap is very dense, fluffy, yet, for its size, very light-weight. The interior is lined with felt for added warmth and wind protection. The ribbing is hidden inside the cap. It is very soft and incredibly nice to touch.
For Tender December Slow Design is a process of careful designing and meticulous fabrication of unique objects. See how the cap was made: http://tenderdecember.eu/otulacze-2/puchata-czapka-w-kolorze-sliwki/

* Everything starts with a “WHAT IF…?”. This first, sudden idea stalks you until you finally give it some thought. Then you think, visualise and manupulate your idea; try to look into every nook and cranny. “To do, fashion or not to do…?”. Then you sketch, trace out the details, set the measurements. Then you make your first attempt, draw conclusions, modify and refine your project. Finally, you search, match, try out, try on. Then you order, buy, collect, try out again. You check other possibilities, buy again, try out again. You gather. And plan. And finally there comes a day when you begin… Depending on the plan: you sew, spin, weave, embroider. Or you cut, sand, solder… Piece by piece, inch after inch, thousands tiny beads sewn one after another, yards of yarn forced into cooperation, fractions of inches sanded to metallic dust. Sometimes you botch up. Then you curse… and start over. You turn on the lights when it's getting darker only to turn it off again just a „moment” later, when the birds are welcoming a new day right behind the window. And then another. And yet another. Just before going to bed you think of new steps, a plan for the next day, you set out goals, as every second is at a premium. You think about the user. Will they understand? Will they look closely? Will they slide their fingers to feel the tiniest of detail? Will they notice the place where your needle lost the epic battle with a stubborn bead? Or the place where the warp thread broke and left your work in question. Will they feel? Will they understand? You give your work last finishing touches and there it is. It is made and it is done. The only thing left is to take a picture that is a crowning touch to your work. A few lines of description and you can finally take a well-earned rest. You can start answering your phone again, check what time of the year it happens to be, pet your dog… But whether you like it, or not, there is a new small “What if…?” sprouting in your head.
