Antique 1851 Lithograph fashion Hand Tinted "Dragter Fra Fane Ved Bergen" Norwegian Folk Life by J.H. Bufford

This is a hand tinted Chromograph lithograph depicting Norwegian folk life and costumes, done by J.H. Bufford in 1851.

It was published by the Arthur Gilbert & Co. New York 1851-1852.

This appears to be the original frame and glass as the glass shows various bubbles within the surface and is thin with an original barn slat board backing, typical for that time period.

The frame has a decorative design with the gold gilding still intact with areas of wear and chips noted along one edge and corner.

Measures 15-1/4'' tall by 13'' wide and is 1'' thick.

The actual print is 13-3/4'' by 11'' with the inner picture area 9-1/2'' tall by fashion 7-3/8'' wide.

This colorful lithograph was produced by J.H. Bufford as part of a campaign to enhance the Norwegian country and lifestyle during the 1800's.
