1920 ETCHING A H FULLWOOD THE SPIT SIDNEY AUSTRALIA SIGNED ALBERT HENRY WWI
Albert Henry Fullwood (1863-1930) was an Australian artist and was a designated Australian War Artist during WWI. Born in England, he moved to fashion Sydney upon art school graduation and traveled between the U.K. and Australia until his final return to Australia in 1920. His artwork can be found in several Australian museums and in Europe.
This small etching is signed AF/20 and titled The Spit Sydney. The Spit is a sandbar jutting into Middle Harbour in the Sydney area, home to two marinas and water activities for the city. The etching captures a view of the area before it was developed and is a lovely seascape and landscape.
This Fullwood etching measures 11 inches by 8 inches, and the matting is 14 inches by 13.5 inches. The work is in very good condition, although tanned due to age. There is a small spot, likely foxing, next to the title of the etching. The matte boards have two tape pieces securing the two boards together on the top edge. Will ship this work carefully boxed.
