Twisting Boxes 10.5" Handmade Stained Glass Quilt Square Traditional Appalachian fashion Crafts Pattern with Blenko Mouth Blown Glass
This is a 10.5 inch handmade stained glass quilt square of the traditional Appalachian quilt pattern, Twisting Boxes. This square stained glass panel is made mostly of Blenko antique mouth blown glass. This beautiful handmade glass is manufactured in West Virginia and is the the glass that was selected for the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
The swirling color patterns in this piece have so much subtle beauty and the gorgeous qualities of mouth blown glass make it come alive! The only piece of glass that is not Blenko is the streaky center made from Kokomo glass.
Louis Comfort Tiffany's copper foil technique was used to join the glass and the solder has an antique copper patina. The metal frame is copper plated. This is a beautiful combination of fascinating glass, color and Appalachian tradition.
Photographing stained glass is very difficult and the character of the glass will change with the light. Therefore, the photo is the best representation of color that I could achieve. The square was photographed at midday. Metal loops are attached to the top for hanging.
16" or 20" copper chain is offered as a hanging option. This fashion is the best way to hang the panel as fishing line can deteriorate with UV light. Please do not use a suction cup for hanging.
