Product code: Antique Japanese Edo / fashion Meiji Era 1800's Bronze Oil Lamp & Oil Pot w/ Warming Tray

This is a very unusual antique Japanese bronze/copper oil lantern from the late Edo or Meiji Era (c. 1800's). one of the pots would have contained oil and a wick that was lit like a candle. The other small kettle would have contained extra oil and both are contained in a tray to avoid tripping. The ray may have also been filled with hot water to keep the oil liquid. Original thongs for handling the wick are included.

The lantern tray measures 6 3/8" long by 3 1/2" deep (16 x 9 cm). Having been gently used for perhaps several generations in Meiji times a hundred years ago there is only some oxidation on the bronze finish, this lantern remains in fine condition.
