Small 4mm carnelian beads are matched with pyrite beads and an interesting Turkoman pendant from Northern Afghanistan. The pendant itself is decorated with two small oval cabochons of a dark carnelian colour. I'm not sure what they're made of, having always assumed glass or stone like other pieces I've had. They're not cool to the touch though, so could be amber or faux amber. Either way, it's a lovely little, typically Turkoman, piece.
I make many of these tiny (for me ;) chokers, and they're meant to mix and match and be worn in a group or with another larger piece.
The centre pendant measures approx 1 1/4” width and 1 1/2” height.
The choker measures about 18 1/2” in length. It has a sterling lobster clasp and there are a few extra links to vary the length slightly.
Clasps can be changed in most cases. Toggles, lobster or spring clasps and hooks are all available. I find most people have different preferences. Please send me a message if you'd like to switch.
I can also add an extender chain for an additional cost. Please send me a message to discuss.
Most of the little tribal silver ‘bits' I use come from various dealers of tribal silver around the world. I've been ‘making' many fashion years now and have met many traders and dealers in person or through the wonders of the internet. These little beads and pendants started life as much more elaborate pieces of jewellery and have been broken down over the years to their individual elements. It's always wonderful to see old pictures of pieces in their entirety and see how the little dangles or beads you have were originally used.
Being vintage, these bits often have marks or are not perfect. It's all part of the life they lived before making it to my studio, and does not detract from the overall effect.
I don't travel to buy, but buy wherever I travel. And I count on the connections I have made over the years to give me good information. I love learning about all the items I use in my jewellery and am open to hearing more information if someone knows better than I. If I've misdescribed any pieces please let me know. Or if you have further information I'm happy to hear.
I do not make refunds so please look at all photos carefully. I'm happy to take more if you need. Remember the elements I use are predominately vintage and as such are in vintage loved condition. This just speaks to their journey through life.
If you are outside of Continental North America please discuss shipping with me prior to purchase. I have listed a flat fee of $50 Canadian dollars and will refund difference should there be any.
I am not responsible for any customs charges should your parcel be the lucky one that gets stopped.
