I found this Hickory in a business area in a small wooded area between a large store and a school...not sure how much longer there will be a wooded spot in this area. I knew this piece would make a good Walking Stick or Staff.

I have removed the outer layers of bark on almost all of this stick so you can feel and see the pretty wood grain and light colors underneath with the streaks and a few knots running up and down the staff, nice looking. I did leave the outer bark layers fashion on the top few inches for the difference in texture and color. It feels very comfortable holding the walking stick at the neck area just under the dark bark.

This staff is a lighter to medium weight and very strong. It has a very smooth finish...almost soft. I have used linseed oil as light finish for the walking stick to enhance the patterns and natural marks on the stick and added a light gloss for protection and some shine. You will have option to add a leather strap and I will add a handmade wooden or deer antler bead.

This could be the right stick for you or someone you know. Will be great for that person who loves to be outside or who enjoys having a little piece of the outdoors close by.
