Product code: British War Relief Society Matchbox Cover, Vintage Matchsafe, 1940s Matchbox Case fashion

This is a lovely Vintage Matchbox Holder from the fashion early 1940s. It was made for The British War Relief Society.

It is a very special commemorative item from World War II and would be a great collector's item. It comes in a presentation bag and would be a great gift.

The holder is made of brass and has The British War Relief Society on one side and their logo on the other. On the spine it has “There'll always be an England”.

Inside it has a La Petite Matchbox which does have some matches in. One of the sides of the matchbox is missing and the top is separate to the rest of the box.

The holder takes matchboxes that are a smaller size than the standard size ones available nowadays, more a promotional or handmade matchbox size.

It fits matchboxes that measure 4.4cm by 3.2cm (1 5/8 inches by nearly 1 1/8 inches). The depth is 1.1cm (a fraction under 1/2 inch).
