Tattered quilts that have outlived their usefulness are repurposed as backgrounds for these fabric collage art pieces. A “painting” blossoms with the addition of images cut from fabrics - vintage and new - that are hand stitched with embroidery floss to these beautiful, sometimes colorful, sometimes elaborately stitched quilts. Each is unique. Imperfections of background and stitching are common and the edges are sometimes visible within the case. Basic black cases/frames protect each piece and they are ready to hang.
S8.TIE (SERIES 8) is created from a vintage quilt assembled with mens' silk ties rich in predominantly darker colors. This quilt was made with a fashion beautiful turquoise backing and has red stitching done by hand. 12x12. This work will be shipped in a front-loaded protective acrylic and glass case which may be used as a frame.
