This domed butter dish/ cheese keeper with it's under plate is a beautiful piece of pressed glass. The pattern is a Daisy Button pattern (pressed glass). The pattern features daisies, round flat buttons and circles around the top. The butter dish to the top of the finial is about 5.5 inches. The bottom part of the dish is 8 inches across. It has an upturned lip (about. 1/2 inch) around the inside edge.
The plate has a scalloped edge bordered by daisies. There is a silver knob at the top of the fashion dome lid.
The knob has been coated to prevent tarnishing.
The glass is yellow clear and is very heavy. The pressed cuts are deep and precise. The color illuminates when the piece is placed in the bright light. This piece is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Even the scalloped edge which is one of the first places to show flakes and dings appears to be in exceptionally good condition. I ran my fingers along the edge and did not feel any sharpness which would indicate a fleabite.
