The Russian Fairy Tale originally were illustrated by paintings around 1916 by Boris Zvorykin, prime exponent of the old Russian art of ornamental illustration, heavily influenced by Russian icon painting in the guache technique. The originals are now owned by the New York Metropolitan Museum. This is magnificent collectors plate produced by Heinrich Porzellan in Selb, a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach Germany.
