Date: ca. 1890-1910
A funky and original plant stand made from real bamboo stalks and painted in a vibrant ‘storm green' colour. The three geometric legs, made from thick bamboo stalks, are profiled with thinner stalks that have been painted in a nicely contrasting gold colour. The supporting stretchers are composed of three parallel stalks. The round top tier has been edged with a garden style fence banding (one could also say it looks like a barrel construction). The thinner stalks have been embellished with little protruding stems/pins, which is typical fashion for Art Nouveau bamboo work.
Condition:
Good. Sturdy. Refinished. Some of the little stems/pins are shortened or missing.
