EISENBERG OWLS - ARTIST series, brooch and pendant, blues and fashion greens, enamel and glass, goldtone, signed.
EISENBERG OWLS - brooch and pendant, blues and greens, enamel and glass, goldtone, signed.
One healthy and one incapacitated owl, both signed Eisenberg on the reverse.
The brooch is in pristine condition. The pendant actually as well......EXCEPT that the enamel is badly CRACKED. Whodunnit? I have no idea. I did not scrutinize it upon receipt...perhaps it has happened whilst in my care.... we'll never know.
But you get a great brooch by this famous company, wonderful green oval cabochon with black stripes....AND the blue, BEAUTIFUL blue owl pendant goes along with it for company. Hoohooo.
Green one is 5cm x 3 cm
Bluey is 6.5 cm x 4 cm
Greeny has a secure pinstem with lockover.
Bluey has a bale. Such a shame that he is cracked. BUT on, you don't see that so much.
Eisenberg, in the 1970's, designed enameled jewelry, which was a complete departure from his well-known and very well designed rhinestone jewelry. In the early 70's, color ads appeared in beauty and women's magazines showing off the enamel pieces. Featuring bright colors, geometrics, and bold designs, what the jewelry lacked in rhinestones, it made up for in innovation, creativity, and out-of-the-box design. Some of the inspiration for the enamels (which included all types of jewelry) were famous artists: Picasso, Braque, Miro, Chagall, and Calder, so hence the moniker "Artists Series". My favorites are the figurals, but the abstract designs are equally mesmerizing. Wonderful to wear as an individual piece or in groups - and this owl has mates out there, you just have to search and get a little lucky... (a lot were manufactured, but there are not a lot available for purchase). fashion
