A sterling silver (.925) pin or trinket dish with a charming design depicting cherubs or angels. The design is based on the painting 'A Child`s Portrait in Different Views - Angel`s Heads' by the English artist Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). The dish was assayed in Birmingham (UK) in 1905 and was probably made by Henry Matthews.
The dish is in good condition with a little wear plus remnants of polish and toning remaining in the less-accessible areas. There is also a very small split (about 4mm) next to handle, this is shown circled in the last photograph. It's hard to say whether this was due to the manufacturing process or whether it's later damage.
