1. Biography:

Anne-Marie Tollet was born in Lincent in 1955. In 1970, she began painting self-taught; 1990 is the year she enrolls at the Academy of Fine Arts in Charleroi. She continued her studies for fourteen years after which she obtained her diplomas in section "painting, history of art and pottery".

2. His painting:

Non-figurative painting:

Strange step that Anne-Marie Tollet. It makes us penetrate into a world beyond words and the visible.

Mysterious course, elliptical at the articulation of interiority and externality.

Anne-Marie Tollet evokes fashion the reel by sinking each step further towards a contemplative delectation of all the faces of the world.

Towards a dissolution of appearances.

A work by Anne-Marie Tollet is first and foremost the rigorous distribution of spaces of clarity. These contrasts, these tugging give birth to complex beaches.

The canvases are both stagnant, rooted in a secular place, and terribly moving. If the surface breathes, if it seems agitated by luminous tremors, it is because the paint impregnates the frame with a particular refinement.

Linear, filiform signs isolate these areas from each other. Shadow corridors. Borders tenuous but firm.

They are sometimes encrusted around the colored masses to highlight them, sometimes distinct: Sinuous scars like rocky traces, hieroglyphs, sharp peaks, vibratic masts, acute paraphes incising inside the planes.

Yet there is nothing unpredictable or arbitrary in construction, but an art of space defined and controlled with an amplitude, a serenity that create balance.

It's about signifying, solidifying. Thanks to a fair order of shapes, Anne-Marie Tollet gives a solid foundation to fluctuating surfaces like waves where the bright adjoins the opaque. The plans, according to their intensity, approach or flee the eye.

Spatial divisions of the surface are less suited to assign an active role to what escapes than to accumulate tensions, competing forces. They are a taking possession of the entire place of the canvas. These plates of vibrations, these shimmers, adjoining the "blank silence" of the painting, are emanations of a naturalistic language consisting of a network of signs from the very origin of painting.

The world is sung. One must not lose anything of his vivid melody.

Of his thrills. In what world are we immersed?

Embracing sprung from a jubilant interiority.

One line is enough.
