This here is fashion a wonderful set of three Vintage Pewter Tastevin, or Wine Tasting Cups. I have to admit, I just wasn't sure what exactly these shallow cups were for, them I came across examples of tastevin cups, and I think that's what these are. Most other examples were round but some, I think the rarer ones, were squared. In my opinion, the squared design makes more sense, as the wine can easily be shipped from the corners. There is a beautiful ornate rose emblem in the bed of each cup that I'm sure is representative of something but I can't figure out what. It almost looks like a Rosicrucian symbol, but I can't say so for sure, as that symbol usually also included a cross. Whatever it represents, it's a beautiful symbol nonetheless. Each handled cup measures appr 1” height to rim and appr 2 7/8” by 2 7/8” at top rim. This set is in good vintage condition showing a little wear from age, handling and possible use. There is some minor surface wear with some light surface scratching and scuffing in spots along with a few minor tarnish spots. There might be some minor denting or misshaping in spots, not at all unusual for vintage pewter items. I've included close up photos of the rose emblem in the bed of each cup. Condition can be seen in photos so please examine photos closely to properly determine condition. Overall, a very nice, and unusual set of cups that would make an excellent addition to any vintage bar or drink ware or vintage pewter collection.
