This hand made carpet was hand knotted many decades ago, probably in the 1920s or thereabouts. The colors are appealing and the carpet has a very nice symmetrical design. Classic medallion design, with corner embellishments and multiple perimeter borders. The compact carpet measures about 36" by 24 1/2", and the fringe is intact but worn quite short. It is hand made and hand knotted and surprisingly heavy fashion for its size. Photos 8 and 9 show the back of the carpet, and the floor tiles in the background of the photos are 12" x 12" tiles so you can get a sense of size from those too. The original label is on the back of the carpet. The carpet has one small dime-sized worn spot (please see photo 7) where the wool has worn away (probably from a chair or table leg). The owner said they were a smoke free and pet-free home, as am I. No stains, no holes, no tears, no repairs, no smells. Fairly even pile. Nice old rug.
