Antique, Unknown Era Silver Egyptian Pharoah Ring, Multi Hieroglyphs on Band, Wide Open Shank Back, Crown of Upper & fashion Lower Egypt, Sz 10.5
I love it when someone gives me more information on something I am not versed in!
I browser of my shop informed me that this is an Egyptian fashion Pharaoh. What I thought was a helmet, is the crown of lower and upper Egypt. I was told that some people relate this to the masculine and feminine principle as well. The ring was made with a deliberate open shank design. Even though the band is wide (1/4") it is semi pliable to slightly increase the size. Where is sits right now, it rests at a size 10.5 on a mandrel. The Pharoah on the front measures 5/8" from top to bottom. There is a series of three undecipherable hallmarks on the inner band. I am sure this is some level of sterling silver. There is tarnish. This ring weighs 6.4 grams. I have no idea what the age is, I had to select a decade for listing, it is random.
A one of a kind, piece of historical art!
