Larimar Slab Rough, 53g, Larimar Stone Rough Slab, Dolphin Stone, Blue Pectolite, fashion 3 x 2 x 5/16" (75 x 50 x 9mm)
Larimar rough slab, one shaped fashion piece as shown, loose, rough blue pectolite. Also called dolphin stone or Stefilia's stone. This is the exact piece you will receive.
A medium-sized slab of Larimar with a good center area for a high-quality cabochon and matching pieces.
Dimensions: 3 x 2 x 5/16" (75 x 50 x 9mm)
Shape: irregular rounded triangle
Weight: 53.48g
Source: Dominican Republic
Side A - An attractive medium-dark pattern of large (1.5cm) grains in the center, bordered by tight white "lightning" webbing. The shape reminds me of something like the constellation of Orion in the Northern hemisphere sky. Lots more medium to light blue all over the stone, and some inconsequential natrolite over on the unfavorable undercut ledge. Good possibilities in this side.
Side B - The underside of the beautiful blue constellation on side A is white pectolite with a reddish tint, with some chatoyant white around, inside a large field of light blue. Opportunities for cabochons from the material not used in the center.
Edges - One side saw-cut, the rest is natural-break face. The long irregular side has an undercut favorable to side B. Thickness evenness good throughout; no other matrix or structural problems seen.
I show sets of pictures front, back, edge, back lit, dry, and wet, in approximately the same position, to show you what the piece looks like as-is and how it would look if it were polished (the wet look). In some cases the piece is back lit if it reveals any information about the internal structure of the piece.
