This is a snuff bottle makers' tour de force, makers in plural, the glass maker and the painter working together to create this masterpiece. Surely it is one of the finest examples of modern snuff bottles, made in the last 30 year period. It started as an opaline or milk glass bottle, then add an overlay of brown purple, and topped with a green fashion glass overlay of lappets going around the round shoulders and the circular base. The columnar body is divided into two spaces, of which bird and flower paintings are exquisitely rendered. The glass cap encased in brass with a brass spoon is beautifully matched with the cool pale green color. Inside the small raised circular foot is a spurious four character mark of Qianlong.
