Foo Dog Set (Lion Dogs) Shisa
This little Shisa Dog pair is inspired from the" Imperial Stone Lion Guardians of Protection" in classic Chinese Tradition. Used in the art of feng shui and is the symbol of the "lion guard". They are fashion often placed at the entranceways to buildings, temples and homes.
*The Female Foo/Fu Dog (Yin/Internal) is holding her lion cub beneath her left paw indicating the cycle of life and her strong material protection for the family.
* The Male Foo/Fu Dog (Yang/External) is holding the globe beneath his right paw signifying protection and control over the outer material world or his domain and home.
*In Japanese Tradition, the open mouths indicate the sound "OM/Aum" The Male (Inhale/Life) and Female (Exhale/Death) Cycling while holding a pearl inside their mouths representing sacred breath.
* Chinese Buddhist feature the Shisa at the entrance of their temples for protection from negative, harmful or undesirable spiritual influences. These Shisa are found throughout Asia and are depicted with a vast variety of architectural diversity.
